Left for dead after a harrowing voyage to New Zealand, things look dire for five-year-old Laura. Shown mercy by a clan of formidable Maori tribesmen, she is raised as one of their own.
Years later, English settler James Mason, visits their village and is besotted with Laura. Their relationship blossoms swiftly and it isn’t long before Laura falls pregnant.
Shortly after giving birth to their daughter, Lily, Laura is caught in the middle of a violent clash between two warring cultures, and is gravely wounded and abducted from the village.
Assumed dead by all but James, he vows to find her, while taking up the challenging task of raising his daughter alone in the unforgiving land that is nineteenth century New Zealand.
Meet the Author
I'm a novel writer based in Oamaru, which is a quirky small town in New Zealand. I like to write all sorts of genres, but I prefer horror and fantasy. I write both young adult and adult fiction.
I love all things magical and mysterious, from the Loch Ness Monster to fairies. If something goes bump in the night, I feel compelled to find out what that something is, and probably write about it.
Each month I will make a blog post for each book that we are running. If you would like to share your thoughts on each one feel free to comment! Or message me (Crystal Gray) and I can add it to the post. Happy Reading!
